D. Alan Walker, a 1985 Longwood graduate who is chief marketing officer of Virginia Asset Management (VAM), will be the Executive-in-Residence speaker Thursday, March 18, at 7 p.m. in Hiner Auditorium. He will speak on "Leadership: Resisting Temptations, Stay the Course."

VAM, in Midlothian, is an independent financial and benefit planning firm. Walker joined the organization in 1996 as president of its affiliated employee benefits company, Benefit Resource Group, which merged its operations with VAM in 2001. Walker, who assumed his current position that year, also provides oversight of VAM's newest venture, Select Brokers, a brokerage insurance firm. Previously he worked for Rogers Benefit Group and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Virginia. His oldest son is a junior at Longwood.
