• Research study by Longwood professors is the focus of recent Washington Examiner article (7/23)
  A research study conducted by Longwood's Raymond Brastow, associate professor of economics; Bennie Waller, associate professor of finance and real estate; and Scott Wentland, visiting assistant professor of economics, is the focus of a story in the July 19, 2010 edition of the Washington Examiner.  The story, "Study: Nearby sex offenders affect Va. Home values," was written by Emily Babay.
  
  Their paper, "Estimating the Effect of Crime Risk on Property Values and Time on Market: Evidence from Megan's Law in Virginia," was recently listed on the Social Science Research Network's Top Ten Download list for Criminology eJournal, ERN: Econometric Modeling in Microeconomics (topic), and Real Estate eJournal.
• President Patrick Finnegan reflects on Longwood and his presidency in Farmville Herald interview (7/23)
  

  Last week, the editor of the Farmville Herald, Ken Woodley, had a personal interview with Longwood President Patrick Finnegan.  Ken's hour-long interview is a front page story in today's Farmville Herald (7.23.10).  The 3-page feature story provides a reflection on President Finnegan's military career, his love for education, and the importance of citizen leadership.

• Longwood included in Richmond Times-Dispatch story about new online piracy law (7/13)

  Longwood University was included in a July 10 (Saturday) story in the Richmond Times Dispatch regarding how Virginia colleges and universities are complying with the Higher Education Opportunity Act—a new federal rule to deter online piracy.

  The story, "Most Va. Colleges comply with online piracy law," was written by Karin Kapsidelis.

• President Finnegan featured on front page of Richmond Times-Dispatch (7/12)
  

  Last week, Richmond Times-Dispatch reporter Karin Kapsidelis was on campus to interview President Finnegan. Her story, "Retired West Point general takes over as Longwood's president," appeared on the front page of the Richmond Times-Dispatch (Monday, July 12, 2010) and includes comments from Ben Brittain, incoming SGA president; graduate student Angela Brickhouse, Class of 2010;  and Jordan Miles III, Class of 2010, who now works for Longwood as emergency management coordinator.
  
  Karin's online story also includes a short video featuring Ben Brittain, Angela Brickhouse, Jordan Miles III and President Finnegan.
• The recent grant received by Longwood's nursing program is announced in the Richmond Times-Dispatch (6/22)
  Longwood's nursing program recently received a $150,000 grant from the Richmond Memorial Health Foundation to help fund the clinical simulation learning center. The grant announcement was included in Sunday's (6.20.10) Richmond Times-Dispatch Moneywise section in the article "Richmond Memorial Health Foundation awards $421,500 in grants."
• Longwood Professor John Gaskins featured in RTD story about website marketing (6/10)
  Longwood's John Gaskins, associate professor of marketing and retailing, was featured in a story in the June 7 edition of the Richmond Times-Dispatch.  The story, "Minding Your Business: Creating effective website marketing," was written by Iris Taylor.
• Longwood's Matt Prickett on National Public Radio (NPR) (6/10)
