An Oxfam Hunger Banquet will be on Nov. 19

An Oxfam Hunger Banquet, primarily for students but also open to faculty and staff, will be held Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Lankford Ballroom. The cost is $3 per student, with all proceeds going to Oxfam America, an international relief and development organization that fights poverty, hunger and injustice. Guests will experience firsthand how our decisions affect others in this interactive and thought-provoking “banquet.” They will draw tickets at random that assign them to a high-, middle- or low-income tier and will receive a corresponding meal, then afterward will be invited to participate in a reflective discussion about fighting hunger and homelessness in their own community. The event, coordinated by the Office of Volunteer & Service-Learning, is part of Hunger & Homelessness Week.
