Performance artist Sheryl Oring will bring her "I Wish to Say" project to the Longwood Center for the Visual Arts on Nov. 21

Performance artist Sheryl Oring will bring her “I Wish to Say” project to the Longwood Center for the Visual Arts (Main Street Gallery) on Friday, Nov. 21, from 3 to 5 p.m. and will give a public lecture at 6:30 p.m. in the lower level. Oring uses a manual typewriter to transcribe American citizens’ responses to her question “What do you wish to say to the president of the United States?” She is accompanied by photographer Dhanraj Emanuel who takes portraits of of each participant. Oring added college campuses to her tour in 2008 to capture the voices of this election season’s energized young voters. Oring, a former journalist who lives in Brooklyn, has exhibited in museums, cultural centers, galleries and public spaces in the United States and Europe.
