Projected timeline of the Presidential Search

March 5, 2009

  • Official public announcement of Dr. Cormier's resignation effective June 30, 2010.
  • Announcement of composition of Presidential Search and Screening Advisory Committee.

March 10, 2009

  • Issue RFP to hire a Search Firm to assist in hiring a new president. Board members serving on the Presidential Search and Screening Advisory Committee have been designated by the full Board to select search firm.

March 26, 2009

  • Meet with faculty to discuss presidential search process.

March 27-28, 2009 (Full Board Meeting)

  • Announce Presidential Search and Screening Advisory Committee members and Administrative Coordinator.

March 30, 2009

  • Go live with Presidential Search web site.

April 10, 2009

  • Responses to RFP due by 2 p.m.

April 14, 2009

  • Meet with Student Government and students to discuss presidential search process and to solicit input on desired characteristics, background, and expectations of next president.
  • Meet with Staff Advisory Committee and staff to discuss presidential search process and to solicit input on desired characteristics, background, and expectations of next president.

April 23, 2009

  • Meet with Faculty Senate and general faculty to solicit input on desired characteristics, background, and expectations of next president.

April 2009

  • Hold first meeting of Presidential Search and Screening Advisory Committee to discuss role, process, and timeline.

May 2009

  • Meet with Executive Council to discuss presidential search process and to solicit input on desired characteristics, background, and expectations of next president.
  • Academic Search, Inc., is hired to assist in presidential search. Dr. Jessica Kozloff is Senior Consultant who will be assisting with the search.  

June 2009

  • Consultant meets with Presidential Search and Screening Advisory Committee.
  • Consultant meets with the Board of Visitors
  • Develop advertisement for presidential position.
  • Develop University profile. 
  • Consultant meets with administrative groups to discuss presidential search process.

July - September 2009

  • Media placements of position announcement.

September 15-16, 2009

  • Consultant holds multiple forums for campus constituencies.
  • Consultant meets with Search Committee to develop candidate evaluation criteria.

August - October 2009

  •  Search Committee reviews applications.

November 2009

  • Consultant and Search Committee identify 6-10 candidates for initial interviews.

December 2009

  • Search Committee interviews semi-finalists and selects finalists. 

Late January - February 2010

  • Finalists are invited for campus visits and interviews. 
  • Board interviews finalists.

February - March 2010

  • Selection of new president by the Board of Visitors and announcement is made public.
