To register for the course, you need to complete an Off Campus Course Registration Form (and, if you have not taken a Longwood course within the last twelve months, also an In State Tuition Form) both available from the Registrar's Web site at http://www.longwood.edu/registrar/19221.htm.    The course discipline/number/section is EDSL 660 90 and the CRN is 11405.  Either mail (Registration Office, Longwood University, 201 High Street, Farmville, VA 23909) or fax (434.395.2252) the completed form(s) to the Registrar's Office.  Remember that you may enroll in this course although you have not yet been admitted to the program.

  • Get your Master's degree in Community and College Counseling in South Boston!

Longwood University will offer the Master of Science in Education with a concentration in Community and College Counseling at the Higher Education Center in South Boston beginning with the spring 2011 semester.  Two courses are offered each semester (spring, summer, fall) until completion in the spring of 2013.  Courses typically meet on Friday night/Saturday all day or only all day Saturdays or evenings.  The combination of face-to-face meetings and online provides the advantages of both methods.

This master's degree program offers an interdisciplinary degree specifically for those preparing for counseling roles in community agencies, working areas such as mental health, social services, youth development services, court services or rehabilitation, or in college settings such as student affairs offices, counseling centers or residence halls.  Students interested in pursuing licensure as a Professional Counselor in the Commonwealth of Virginia obtain a good start towards that goal with this program.  For a complete listing of the requirements for that licensure, please review the Virginia Board of Counseling regulations at www.dhp.virginia.gov/counseling/counseling_forms.htm#LPC.

If you are interested, please send a request for information and application to Kathy Charleston, charlestonke@longwood.edu.  The application deadline is September 1, 2010.
