Real world experience

Internship

Following Longwood’s proud tradition of requiring students to complete an internship for graduation, Communication Studies majors have turned their academic coursework and talents into phenomenal real-world opportunities. Our students have interned all over the country with businesses/organizations including:

  • Netflix
  • The New York Times Company
  • Miami Heat
  • iHeart Radio – Los Angeles
  • Virginia Film Office
  • Business Insider
  • Style Weekly
  • Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art
  • Manhattan Comedy School
  • Studio Center (Richmond & Norfolk)
  • Local affiliate TV newsrooms throughout Virginia

Students propose their internship opportunities for approval and are expected to work with a site supervisor to complete 150 hours for a three-credit internship course. For more information and for majors looking to propose an internship, utilize our Communication Studies Internship Application Form.
